The film recorded the highest first-day collection and highest two-day collection for any Hindi film in India, and the fourth biggest opening weekend in India.

A year of extensive research helped in the design of the British warships seen in the film. Two complete ships were actually built in the giant water tank in Malta. When they were to sail, identical computer generated replicas were used, and CG water and waves were generated to realistically portray the ocean travel.

The entire port city was virtual, and existed only on the computer!
